Hanan is the Acting Director of uOttawa’s new School of Engineering Design and Teaching Innovation in the Faculty of Engineering. She holds the NSERC Chair in Entrepreneurial Engineering Design and is also a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. As the academic lead for Alacrity Ottawa, Hanan is responsible for all aspects of the University of Ottawa’s Master of Engineering in Entrepreneurial Engineering Design (MEED) program as well as the selection and support of students admitted to the Alacrity Ottawa program. Her passion is helping students graduate with an entrepreneurial mindset that enables them to create their own startups or play leading roles in existing organizations.
Prior to joining the University, Hanan worked at Nortel Networks and was the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Ceyba, an optical long-haul networking company. Hanan holds a B.Sc. from Ain-Shams University, a M.A.Sc. and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, both in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
